Conjugate Heat Transfer Simulation of Overall Cooling Performance for Cratered Film Cooling Holes

Film cooling is widely applied as an effective way to maintain the turbine blade temperature at acceptable level. The present paper investigates overall effectiveness and flow structure by performing conjugate heat transfer simulations for flat-plate baseline cylindrical three cratered film-cooling holes. in fluid domain obtained using Shear Stress Transport turbulence model, solid conductivity considered solving Laplace equation. Four blowing ratios ranging from 0.5 2.0 are studied. numerical results show that concentric elliptic hole yields a slightly higher than hole, but two contoured holes exhibit great improvements due generation of anti-kidney-shaped vortex pair. area-averaged has improved 5.58–65.30% hole. variation Biot number small change effectiveness. However, uniformity coefficient depends on number.
